Transition Support

Transition Support

Transitions are significant moments in a student’s life and learning journey, and at Sancta Maria we take great care in supporting students and families through these changes.

New to IB-aligned education

For families new to IB-aligned education, we place strong emphasis on clarity, transparency and continuity. We support students and parents in understanding how learning is shaped by inquiry, conceptual thinking, and real-world application, while maintaining clear expectations and academic rigour.

Students are gradually supported to develop skills such as questioning, reflection, collaboration, and independent thinking, with teachers providing clear guidance, structure, and feedback at every stage. We work closely with families through regular communication and shared language around learning, ensuring parents feel informed and confident in supporting their child’s journey.

Our aim is to make the transition into IB-style learning purposeful and positive - enabling students to adapt smoothly, build confidence, and thrive in a learning environment that values both excellence and progress.

Transitioning from another school / location

Students joining from other schools and locations are supported through structured family orientations, pastoral check-ins, and clear communication. We take time to understand each student’s prior learning experiences, routines, and needs, helping them settle with confidence and form positive relationships. As the school grows, we will introduce buddy system with experienced students supporting incoming students.

Transitioning from other Curricula

Students joining us from other international or national curricula are supported through a carefully structured transition that values continuity as well as growth.

We help students understand our inquiry-led learning approach. Teachers provide clear guidance and scaffolding as students develop key learning skills such as research, communication, collaboration, self-management, and reflection. These skills, often referred to as Approaches to Learning, support students in becoming confident, independent learners while building on the strengths they bring from previous educational experiences.

The IB-aligned framework followed at Sancta Maria is widely recognised worldwide and increasingly valued across India for its academic rigour, global perspective, and preparation for future pathways.

Through thoughtful transition support and ongoing communication with families, we ensure that students adapt smoothly, feel confident in their learning, and continue to progress with clarity and purpose.
